You can, of course, manually edit your file’s metadata either within Media File Renamer or directly in the Media Edit page. However, you might prefer to have this process happen automatically whenever a file is renamed, so you don’t need to update everything yourself.

In this context, Sync means the plugin takes your filename and uses it to generate new metadata values (like title, alt text, or caption) automatically.

The exception is AI Vision, which doesn’t simply sync the filename, instead, it analyzes the image content and generates unique, optimized metadata for each field, making your media library more descriptive and SEO-friendly.

For each AUTO method (including Manual), you can choose exactly which metadata fields should be affected by the sync.
